May 24, Icefields Pkwy

We are behind on our posts.  The reason is that not all our campsites have WiFi.  Of those that do have it--if it went any slower it would be going backwards.  BTW, your comments are welcome, even the good, bad or not so good.   I will try to catch up so that you won't think we are going nowhere.
Today's post, for May 24, was the ride thru the 'most beautiful drive in North America", the Icefield Parkway leading from Banff to Jasper National ParksYes, it probably was most beautiful--if we could have seen it.  You guessed it.  The rain and snow that has been with us the whole trip is still there.  But at least we are not fighting the trucks, (they are not allowed) altho' with the RV it is not much of a fight.  Cars just pass us like we are not there, but that's OK.

As you see, snow and foggy weather, hide the mountain peaks and glaciers!  The beautiful views are out there somewhere, I suppose.

Frozen Bow Lake, headwaters of Bow river.
While driving the "Most Beautiful"--which we saw very little of--'our Betty' (don't you have a name for your GPS?) told us the altitude.  Isn't that exciting?  This was the highest point.

All of a sudden, we see a sign & at a road pullout

Though the fog we could actually see it.  Wonder just how many falls there are with that name?

Even on the "Most Beautiful" in the spring you will see this
Yep, construction in the Snow and Fog.  In Canada All signs are written in French as well as English.

We came down a ways out of the snow and we saw a black bear.  S/he was busy eating and refused to pose.  I tried to convince my Dear Bride to get out and coax it to do something but she refused.  Now just how am I going to get any good photos on this trip without help?

Here we come to Athabasca Falls where the Athabasca River, (that started at the Athabasca Glacier and others, which we could not see in the snow and fog), forces its way through a narrow gap in the rocks.  It was awesome.

Such a dark and gloomy day, this could have been a black and white photo and you could not tell the difference.
Another view of the Falls

The is the view of the river past the falls.  Like I said "Awesome"  Now we continue on to our home for 3 nights at Whistler Campground in Jasper National Park.

When we first got there the sun was shining, later it started raining, as it has most of this trip
